Burkhard Ulrich

Born in Aachen, Germany, tenor Burkhard Ulrich studied piano, organ and singing at the Cologne Musikhochschule and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. After engagements at theaters in Koblenz and Kiel, his career took him to the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where since 2001 he has appeared as, e.g., MIME (Das Rheingold, Siegfried), LOGE (Das Rheingold), Shuiskij (Boris Godunov), Valzacchi (Der Rosenkavalier), GORO (Madama Butterfly), Don Basilio (Le nozze di Figaro) and MONOSTATOS (Die Zauberflöte).

He has collaborated with such renowned conductors as Sir Simon Rattle, Riccardo Muti, Christian Thielemann, Ingo Metzmacher and Marc Minkowski. Guest engagements led him amongst others to the Salzburg Festival, The Opéra National de Paris, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, the Bregenz Festival, the RuhrTriennale, the Arts Center Seoul and many more opera houses. Mr Ulrich also appears frequently on the concert stage.

His artisic work is documented in several CD- and DVD-Productions. In accompany to his successful carrer as a singer, Burkhard Ulrich won prizes as an organist and jazz pianist.
